Investment
Yesterday at a developers’ meetup, after I showed what I’m working on and introduced my app, someone asked me,
“Why aren’t you seeking investment?”
I answered:
“There are things to gain and things to lose when taking investment. I’m still considering it. I’m not fully convinced that my company’s true value would be properly recognized at this moment, so I’m not actively pursuing it.”
These days, I often see startups acting as if raising funds itself is the ultimate goal. I’ve even seen founders treat investors’ money like their own.
But I believe nothing in this world comes for free. I fully acknowledge the price you pay for outside capital, and that’s why I’m cautious. The essence of business is ultimately to make money, and I’m building for the long term. So for now, I focus on strengthening the fundamentals of my work and reinforcing the core competitiveness of my business — quietly but steadily.
